Explore our pretty city and be sure to pop by some of Danielle de Souza’s fave stores when you do.
Best book shop
I love Exclusive Books in Hyde Park. Not only do I get to unleash my inner bookworm, but it serves a delicious cup of coffee and the staff don’t mind how long you hang around. It’s basically like sitting in your mom’s lounge, just with a better view.
Best computer/electronics store
Dion Wired – it has everything you need and staff who know what they’re talking about.
The Fourways Flower Market in Pineslopes is my absolute favourite florist. The flowers are always beautiful and fresh, and I love that it still feels as if they add a personal touch when arranging your bouquets.
Best furniture/home décor store
I’m a Coricraft addict. I love its stuff. The raw, natural beauty of the designs fits perfectly with my aesthetics. It’s always bringing in new styles and materials, and it is a challenge not to walk up to one of the displays and make yourself at home for the afternoon.
Best garden centre
Lifestyle Home Garden is still one of my favourites. It reminds me of when I was a kid and went plant shopping with my parents. It has a huge variety of plants, the staff are always helpful and there are all sorts of other bits and bobs that are fun to look at.
Best hardware store
My local Builders is my go-to hardware store. It has everything you’ll ever need, and can custom make things too.
Best home décor
Vendange in Design Quarter is one of my favourite decor shops. It has a slight French feel, and I love all the wood and wine-inspired items.
Best kitchen essentials shop
Woolworths is my essentials shop (for almost everything). Kitchen essentials of good quality, that will last past the house-warming, are in abundance.
Best online shopping site
Superbalist and YuppieChef are my two favourites. I spend way too much money with these guys and my heart skips a beat when that box arrives at the office.
Best outdoor/camping store
I love Cape Union Mart. It also stocks Old Khaki and Poetry so I can look good when I camp.
Best shopping mall
I’m not a huge mall fan, but if I have to head to the shops, then Sandton is it. The shops are open late, making it very convenient for working girls.
Best shop for life’s little luxuries
Olive and Oil is my ultimate luxury (by luxury I mean staple). It has such delicious combinations of oils and dips that I always walk out of there inspired to host a tapas event for all my friends.
Best sporting goods store
Sportsman’s Warehouse is the easiest place to get everything I need.
Best stationery store
Typo obviously! It has the best stuff, and it’s easy to find something that suits your style and personality.
