Dine on a budget: Awesome two-for-one specials in Joburg

For every wallet-busting Jozi restaurant, there are three times as many amazing affordable eats. We’ve rounded-up a few of the best bargains around the city. Yes!! We’re talking two-for-one specials. What could be better?


Beerhouse (Fourways)

Voted the Best Craft Beer Pub in Joburg, Beerhouse is the hub of all things beer, providing the best of both local and international brews. At this outgoing spot in Fourways, a strong food and beer pairing seam runs throughout the menu with a dedicated food and desert offering to match. This is also a great place for two-for-one specials. On Mondays there are two burgers for the price of one (R85). On Tuesdays it’s two tacos for the price of one – be it fish (R75), chicken (R75) or pulled pork (R85). Also look out for their popular daily lunch specials for R50 that includes a beer, soft drink or cider.

Chief’s Boma (Fourways)

Located in the tranquil gardens of the Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre, Chief’s Boma is an African restaurant that caters for all tastes. It boasts over 120 mouth-watering dishes, ranging from Moroccan delicacies to South Africa’s most beloved delights. Everyone will surely find their favourite. The African Dining Experience occurs every Saturday from March till 27 October, and is a two-for-one traditional feast. It lasts from 12pm to 2.30pm. Pay R265 for two feasts.

The Radisson Blu

Between 5pm and 7pm every day, you can enjoy the two-for-one special on beers, ciders and house wines. The view is free and it’s fabulous from the rooftop terrace.

Six Restaurant and Cocktail Bar (Melville)

If you’re after interesting shooters and mixed drinks, then Six Restaurant and Cocktail Bar is your kind of dig. A real Melville institution, Six has a happy hour that is seven hours long. Their menu offers tasty meals and the kitchen closes at midnight, allowing you two hours to still enjoy your meal before closing time. There are about sixty cocktails from which to choose, and from 12pm till 7pm, you get to buy any cocktail and get another free. Live a little!


Tiger’s Milk (Bryanston)

Any day of the week, at any time of the day, choose a juicy cheese or mushroom burger for R95 with chips, salads or onion rings and get the second one free. Also available every day, between 5pm and 7pm, is the Pick Your Poison two-for-one special: order beers (Part Wolf or Tiger’s Milk Lager), Hampton & Co red or white wine, or cocktails (Gunslingers, martinis or Cosmopolitans) and get another free.

For R49.90 you buy one Banger Brekkie of two eggs, two rashers of streaky bacon, three pork bangers, toast and tomato. The second breakfast is free. You have to be seated – it’s not available for take-away. This is available at selected Wimpy branches, while stocks last, on Mondays.
