Joburg gets many visitors … and while there’s much to do, see and explore in our City of Gold, two spots come up trumps. Maboneng Precinct and The Wilds Municipal Nature Reserve (joint winners of best spot to take out-of-towners) are seriously trendy places to visit. (Hell, even for locals!)
At the super-creative Maboneng Precinct, there’s a strong sense of community and the area’s bustling with the arts and music. Spend your afternoon exploring the creativity, then sip sunset drinks on the rooftop at the Living Room. Top off your day with soulful jazz sounds at The Marabi Club. Pencil in Market on Main on Sundays … it’s a must. This spot’s a terrific taste of city life.
It’s not only us who are inspired by Joburg’s greenery … Joburgers can’t get enough of The Wilds Municipal Nature Reserve in Houghton, which surely showcases Joburg’s trees and greenery to out-of-towners too. Think sprawling lawns, a rich canopy of trees and waterfalls. Artist and eco-activist James Delaney has played a huge role in rejuvenating this space. All the metal sculptures you see are crafted by James. For the active … take a short hike along the paths. For others … picnic on the lawns. A visit to this tranquil spot is sure to leave you and your visitors feeling refreshed and in love with all Joburg has to offer.
