The ref has thoroughly ticked you off. Or the rugby game’s not going too well and you need someone to restore your sense of calm. Or the match is going brilliantly. Who do you turn to? Joburg turns to Nick Mallett (best sports presenter) on SuperSport, and we know just why. He has a wealth of knowledge and real hands-on experience when it comes to rugby. Let’s list it – as a player he won the Currie Cup four times with Western Province in the ’80s. He coached the ‘Boks from ’97 to 2000, then headed Italy’s team between 2007 and 2011. As coach, he led the Springboks to 17 consecutive wins, as well as a win in the 1998 Tri-Nations. Oh yes, he sure knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the game. He’s got a really strong personality, he’s articulate and doesn’t mince his words at the presenter’s desk … which is why Joburgers are drawn to him. Go Nick!
I feel very proud and honoured to have been voted Best Sports Presenter for 2019. I love what I do, rugby is my passion and I’m very lucky to work with the people I do at SuperSport. Many thanks to all of you who voted for me – Nick Mallett.
